BVD Travel Centres is a retail fuel and travel centre network operating in Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and New Brunswick, and forms part of the BVD group of companies. The operating entity is BVD Petroleum, whose registered address is 130 Delta Park Boulevard, Brampton, Ontario L6T 5E7.
This policy covers this website only. It does not cover the BVD Fuel Card program, the BVD mobile app, or in-store activity at our locations, each of which may be governed separately.
If you use the signup form, we collect your email address and a record of your consent, including the date and time you gave it. We use this only to send you the launch and location updates you asked for.
We also record how you arrived at this site: the campaign parameters in the link you followed, if there were any. This tells us which of our advertising reached you. It is stored in your browser for the duration of your visit and submitted with the form.
If you choose “Near me”, your browser asks your permission and then provides your approximate location. This is used entirely within your own browser to sort locations by distance. We do not transmit it to us, store it, or retain it. Declining it does not stop the finder working; you can search by town, province or postal code instead.
Where a map is displayed, it is served by Google Maps. Google receives your IP address and request data in order to serve it, subject to Google's privacy policy.
We use Google Analytics, via Google Tag Manager, to understand how the site is used: which pages are viewed, roughly where visitors are, what device and browser they use, and how they found us. This is measurement in aggregate; we do not use it to identify you personally, and we do not attempt to link it to your email address.
This site takes no payments and has no accounts or logins. We do not ask for, or store, payment details, fuel card numbers, identity documents or passwords. If you are ever asked for those on a page claiming to be ours, it is not ours.
Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager set cookies to measure site usage. The location finder uses your browser's own storage to remember your campaign source for the length of your visit; that is cleared when you close the tab.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics specifically using Google's opt-out browser add-on. Blocking them does not stop the site working.
This site does not show a cookie consent banner. For analytics of this kind, Canadian privacy law is satisfied by clear notice, which is what this page provides. If we later market the site to visitors outside Canada, we will revisit that.
We send marketing email only with your express consent, as Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) requires. You give that consent by ticking the consent box on the signup form. It is never ticked for you, and you cannot sign up without it. We record the consent along with the date and time you gave it, and you are added to our list at that point.
You can withdraw consent at any time using the unsubscribe link in the footer of any email we send, or by contacting us using the details below. We act on withdrawals promptly, and in any event within the timeframe CASL requires.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for anyone else's advertising. We use a small number of service providers who process it on our behalf:
We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to establish or defend legal claims.
Our service providers operate outside Canada, including in the European Union and the United States. Your information may therefore be stored or processed outside Canada, where it can be subject to the laws of those countries, including lawful access requests by their courts and authorities. We use providers who commit to appropriate safeguards.
We keep your email address and consent record for as long as you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we retain a minimal record of the unsubscribe, as CASL compliance requires us to, so that we can honour it. Analytics data is retained on Google's standard retention schedule.
This site is served over an encrypted connection, and information submitted through it is transmitted to our providers encrypted in transit. Our providers hold it under their own security programs. No system is perfectly secure, and we do not claim otherwise.
Under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), and the provincial legislation that applies where you live, you may:
We respond to requests within the timeframe PIPEDA requires.
This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will remove it.
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of the page. If a change materially affects how we use information you have already given us, we will tell subscribers by email before it takes effect.
Our Privacy Officer is accountable for privacy compliance and for handling access, correction and complaint requests. You can reach them, or BVD support generally, at support@bvdpetroleum.com or 416-848-4111.
